Not too long, National Industrial Court of Nigeria commenced committal proceedings against the bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Oluwatomi Somefun to commit her to prison for flouting orders made by the court in a motion filed by 25 ex-staff of the bank, in whose favour the Lagos division of the court had given a monetary judgment on July 3, 2019.

Also, as part of its many troubles is the personal data breach suit filed by the Digital Rights Lawyers Initiative against the lender following the unauthorized exposure of over 53,000 job seekers on the bank’s job portal.

In Suit No. FHC/AB/CS/85/2020, filed few months ago, the applicant sought:

“A declaration that the Respondent’s privacy policy on its website – “” violates the provision of regulation 2.5 of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019.

Not too long, the Maiduguri Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned one Adam Kaka Adam before Justice Ibrahim Jauro of the Yobe State High Court, Damaturu, on one-count charge, bordering on criminal misappropriation to the tune of N11, 657, 500.00 (Eleven Million Six Hundred and Fifty-seven Thousand Five Hundred Naira).

Adam was a former Service Manager, in charge of Vault Room and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Unity Bank Plc, Damaturu Branch, Yobe State.

Trouble started for him when the EFCC received a petition against him from his employer (Unity Bank Plc), alleging criminal misappropriation of the said sum, meant to be fed the ATM machines of the branch which he is alleged to have dishonestly converted to his personal use.

All theses indices, ranging from stocks plunging, breach of customers contracts and financial misappropriation by their staffs, experts say may have resulted in the decline in fortune of the bank.

*Says he lived his passion and left indelible marks on the sands of time*

The Lead Visioner of the Lagos4lagos Movement, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran yesterday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Afenifere scribe  Yinka Odumakin. At the visit with his team, Jandor sympathised with  the family and expressed the death as a big blow, especially at a time like this when true progressives at leadership levels are scarce.

Addressing the wife of the deceased, Dr. Joe Odumakin, Jandor reiterated that the loss is not just that of the family, it is indeed a huge blow to the Youruba nation and our dear country, especially going by the indelible footprints the deceased created on the sands of time and his unwavering commitment towards entrenching good governance in the country.

There is no gain saying that Comrade Yinka’s demise will created a vacuum that won't be easy to fill. He was a gentleman per excellence, an advocate of good governance and emancipation of the people. He was a torch bearer, vanguard and voice of the voiceless. He was a thorn in the flesh of the dictators in the dark days of military rule in the country.

Speaking further, Jandor stated that Odumakin will forever be remembered in the hearts of many for the glowing ideals he worked and stood for.

Jandor then prayed that God, in His infinite mercy, grants the family and the rest of nation the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

As the race for 2023 hots up, politicians have started strategizing for victory at the polls. Hon. Philip Johnson, an astute  political stakeholder in Taraba politics from Lau Local Government in the northern senatorial district of the state, has extolled the political virtues of the APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The grassroots politician, who has been called by several Youth groups to contest for the Governorship seat of Taraba state at the 2023 Elections, said that the name Bola Tinubu is associated with political excellence and leadership development.

The APC Governorship hopeful made this known in an interview with Journalists in Lagos on Friday.

In his words, "Though, I have not met Tinubu before, but, I have passion for him. In my past 34 years of partisan political experience in Nigeria, I think, it's miraculous for you to run a state without federal government allocation. I have been following him and I strongly believe he has what it takes to govern this country. He has brought great leaders to limelight in Nigeria, including the Vice President, Prof. Yomi Osinbajo; Works Minister, Barr. Raji Fashola and many other leaders in different spheres".

Hon. Johnson maintained that power rotation arrangement is healthy for our democratic evolution.

He said power rotation, operational in Taraba state has helped in no small measure to stabilize the political tension in the state.
